Have you always dreamt about becoming a freelancer but knew that it would only interfere with your other dream of traveling the world? Now you don’t have to dream. Freelancing gives you the opportunity to work on your schedule and the liberty of exploring places you may never have thought possible. When you work from nine to five, Monday through Friday, it does not give you the opportunity to go on spur of the moment adventures. With freelancing however, you decide when its vacation time and you can take your work on the road! A boring five hour bus ride can be five work hours and the next four days you can spend on the beaches of Costa Rica. Better yet you can write an e-book while soaking up the sun on the Mediterranean.

The cost of living can be relatively cheap depending on which country you want to spend time in. In many countries around the world you can live off of $500 a month and you can make $500 in one week while freelancing alone! Just imagine, you would only have to work one week to cover expenses and another week for adventure money then the next two weeks are free to explore the country you are living in. Then once you have explored all of Mexico for example, you can keep traveling on south until you are a Central American expert. In this case, if you really love living abroad, you can get a more stable and permanent job as a tour guide, as you know the international language perfectly and have first hand experience traveling through the region.

Freelancing also gives you the opportunity to explore many options. If you are a little tired of your normal nine to five job and are looking for a little adventure, pack up your computer and buy your ticket to the country you have always wanted to visit. Nowadays even the poorest of the poorest countries have access to the internet so you will always be connected. Of course plenty of research will be necessary about the country you want to visit. Let’s be honest, you probable will not be able to live in the center of Sao Paulo, eat out every night, go out shopping and living the life on your new salary. However, you will be able to live at least a moderate lifestyle with the option of traveling within the country and exploring the culture and language.

Freelancing opens the doors to many new possibilities. Sometimes, freelancing just is not an option because your home country may have a high cost of living but in other countries the cost of living is very low and it allows you to work on new skills, explore more countries and a new culture, and offer you a new lifestyle and experiences which will be helpful in the future. Our dreams can become reality with a little creativity and dedication.
